Target Information
Cytosolic Non-Specific Dipeptidase (CNDP2), also known as carnosine dipeptidase 2, is an enzyme encoded by the CNDP2 gene in cattle. CNDP2 catalyzes the hydrolysis of dipeptides, with a preference for those containing hydrophobic amino acids. It belongs to the M20 family of metallopeptidases and has broad substrate specificity for dipeptides. Beyond its function as a peptidase, CNDP2 also participates in a process called "reverse proteolysis", generating N-lactoyl amino acids, such as N-lactoyl-phenylalanine.
