Interleukin 12B is encoded by the IL12B gene in chicken. IL-12, also known as NK cell stimulatory factor or cytotoxic lymphocyte maturation factor, is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells that has been shown to mediate multiple effects on T cells and NK cells. Interleukin 12B is a subunit of IL-12 that has three beta sheet domains.
