Target Information

Glycated hemoglobin, also referred to as glycohemoglobin or glycosylated hemoglobin, is a type of hemoglobin (Hb) that is chemically bonded to a sugar molecule. This glycation process leads to the production of highly reactive free radicals inside blood cells, which subsequently alters the properties of their membranes. As a result, blood cells tend to aggregate, increasing blood viscosity and ultimately impairing blood flow.

Target/Biomarker Porcine HbA1c
Target Synonym Glycated hemoglobin; glycohemoglobin; glycosylated hemoglobin; HbA1c
