Target Information
Bovine Fatty Acid-Binding Protein, Brain is encoded by the FABP7 gene in cattle. FABP7 is a brain fatty acid binding protein. It belongs to a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. These proteins are thought to play roles in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. FABP7 is involved in the liver injury process through its regulation of Kupffer cell (KC) phagocytic activity and cytokine production. Modulation of KC function by FABP7 may provide a novel therapeutic approach to the treatment of liver diseases.
