Target Information

FGFBP1 acts as a carrier protein that releases fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) from the extracellular matrix (EM) storage. Bovine Fibroblast Growth Factor-Binding Protein 1 is encoded by the FGFBP1 gene in cattle. It is a secreted protein that can bind fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) 1 and 2. It has been proposed that FGFBP1 functions as a chaperone molecule that can mobilize locally stored FGF and present the growth factor to its tyrosine kinase receptor.
