Target Information
Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 1 (GOT1), also known as aspartate aminotransferase, cytoplasmic, is encoded by the GOT1 gene in cattle. GOT1 is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme that exists in both cytoplasmic and mitochondrial forms. It plays a role in amino acid metabolism, as well as the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles. The enzyme catalyzes the reversible transfer of an amino group between aspartate and α-ketoglutarate to form oxaloacetate and glutamate. It is a gene implicated in protection from cellular stress.
