Specifications
Target Information
Hexosaminidase A (Hex A) is an enzyme involved in the hydrolysis of terminal N-acetyl-D-hexosamine residues in various compounds known as N-acetyl-β-D-hexosaminides. Bovine Beta-Hexosaminidase Subunit Alpha is encoded by the HEXA gene in cattle. Hexosaminidase enzymes are dimeric in structure. Of the three Hex isozymes, only HexA can interact with its cofactor, the GM2 activator protein (GM2AP), and hydrolyze GM2 ganglioside.
