Target Information

Bovine Mitochondrial Peptide Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase is encoded by the MSRA gene in cattle. The enzyme catalyzes the reduction of methionine sulfoxide to methionine. It is widely expressed and constitutes an important repair mechanism for oxidatively damaged proteins. These proteins accumulate during the manifestation of certain degenerative diseases and aging processes. In summary, MSRA is a cellular defender, repairing oxidized methionine and safeguarding against oxidative damage.
