Target Information

Metaxin-2 is a protein involved in intracellular trafficking and fusion of vesicles, essential for proper cellular function and communication. It is found in various cellular compartments, including the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. It is encoded by the MTX2 gene in pigs. MTX-1 and MTX-2 are essential components of the metaxin complex. They play distinct roles in coupling motor proteins to mitochondria to facilitate transport.
