Target Information

Ceruloplasmin (CP), also known as caeruloplasmin, is a ferroxidase enzyme. It is the major copper-carrying protein in the blood. It plays a role in iron metabolism. Ceruloplasmin is encoded by the equine CP gene. Purified equine CP is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximately 115,000. Equine serum CP is an acute phase reactive protein that is elevated in the intermediate or late phase of acute inflammation.
