Target Information

Metaxin 1 is located on the outer membrane of mitochondria. It is a component of the mitochondrial protein translocation apparatus. Metaxin 1 is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues. It plays a role in protein transport into mitochondria. Bovine Metaxin-1 is encoded by the MTX1 gene in cattle. It is involved in metabolism or reproduction. Research has shown that MTX1 is required for proper embryo development in mice.
