Target Information
Thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG), also known as plasma selenoprotein P, is a globulin protein encoded by the SERPINA7 gene. Bovine Thyroxine-Binding Globulin is encoded by the SERPINA7 gene in cattle. It is the major serum transport protein for iodothyronines in most of the large, omni- or herbivorous mammals. It binds thyroid hormones, specifically thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), in the bloodstream. Along with transthyretin and serum albumin, TBG is responsible for carrying these thyroid hormones.
