Target Information
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) is an omega-3 fatty acid found in cold-water fish such as salmon, herring, and mackerel. It is also available in fish oil supplements. EPA is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that acts as a precursor for prostaglandin-3, thromboxane-3, and leukotriene-5 eicosanoids. These eicosanoids have anti-inflammatory properties and are important for maintaining cardiovascular health. EPA is also known to reduce the risk of depression and anxiety.
