Target Information

Glutathione peroxidase 1 is a member of the glutathione peroxidase (GPx) enzyme family, which plays an important role in health due to its antioxidant function. In a sheep model, research has shown that diet-induced increases in muscle ALA levels upregulate the activity and gene expression of the antioxidant enzymes GPX1 and SOD2 through altered cellular biochemical actions and signal transduction pathways.
