Target Information
In vertebrates, three homologous genes have developed to encode three muscle type-specific isoforms of troponin I. In dogs, the protein troponin I, associated with fast skeletal muscles, is encoded by the TNNI2 gene. Initially, fast skeletal muscle TnI was cloned from a skeletal muscle cDNA library. Typically, fsTnI is exclusively found in fast twitch skeletal muscle fibers. The function of TNNI2 in dogs is primarily related to its role in skeletal muscle, particularly affecting muscle and joint development by regulating calcium sensitivity and muscle contraction.
