Epinephrine (EPI), also known as adrenaline, is a hormone and neurotransmitter that is released in response to stress or danger. It plays a vital role in the "fight or flight" response, increasing heart rate, dilating airways, and mobilizing energy stores to prepare the body for action. In the adipose tissue of the large omentum, the release of non-esterified fatty acids was stimulated by epinephrine at concentrations as low as 0.25 μg/ml.
