Target Information

Arginine is an amino acid which features a guanidino group appended to a standard amino acid framework. It is necessary for the production of nitric oxide (NO), a signaling molecule that regulates blood flow, mitochondrial function, and cellular communication. It is essential for the development of T-cells, which play a central role in immune response. Arginine serves as a precursor to other amino acids, including glutamate, proline, and creatine. Arginine is an essential amino acid for chickens and feeding diets with arginine in excess of recommended levels has been shown to have a positive effect on growth performance in broilers.
