Target Information
Hematopoietic progenitor cell antigen CD34 is a transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein and a member of a family of single-pass transmembrane sialomucin proteins. It is expressed on early hematopoietic and vascular-associated progenitor cells, as well as in hematopoietic progenitor cells and the endothelial cells of blood vessels. In rabbits, this protein is encoded by the CD34 gene. In a rabbit model of atherosclerosis, CD34+ cells were found to be present in atherosclerotic plaques, suggesting that CD34+ cells may be involved in angiogenesis and repair processes.
