Target Information
Serotransferrin, also known as transferrin, is a glycoprotein found in vertebrates. It plays a crucial role in iron transport through blood plasma. It carries iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. Transferrin is encoded by the chicken TF gene. It is a glycoprotein involved in iron transport through species-specific membrane receptors. Two types of TF are known in chickens (egg TF and plasma TF).
