Target Information
Noradrenaline, also known as norepinephrine, is a neurotransmitter and hormone that acts as a chemical messenger in the sympathetic nervous system. It plays a vital role in regulating heart rate, blood pressure, and the body's response to stress. As a neurotransmitter, norepinephrine acts as a chemical messenger, facilitating the transmission of nerve signals across nerve endings to other nerve cells, muscle cells, or gland cells. In isoflurane anaesthetised horses, noradrenaline increased mean arterial blood pressure and systemic vascular resistance while peripheral blood flow was maintained.
