Target Information

In horses, plasminogen activator inhibitor 2, also referred to as PAI-2, is encoded by the SERPINB2 gene. As a member of the serpin superfamily, it functions as a serine protease inhibitor and coagulation factor, primarily responsible for inactivating tissue plasminogen activator and urokinase. This inhibitor is found in various cells, with a notable presence in monocytes and macrophages. Plasminogen activator inhibitor 2 may also be involved in regulating the fibrinolytic system, inflammatory response, thrombosis, and cell proliferation and differentiation in horses.
