Target Information

The cytokine transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) is a multifunctional cytokine with critical roles in cell regulation, tissue repair, and disease pathogenesis. It has been implicated in the development and progression of renal fibrosis in chronic kidney disease (CKD) in humans and experimental models. Increases in urinary aTGF-β1 followed longitudinally in individual cats may indicate the development of CKD.
