Target Information
Plasminogen is a glycoprotein mainly produced by the liver. It can be converted into plasmin through the action of plasminogen activators, with both plasminogen and its activator being bound to fibrin. Activation occurs via urokinase and high concentrations of streptokinase. In dogs, the PLG gene encodes plasminogen. Fibrinogen activation is mainly dependent on tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) and urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA). Studies have shown that tPA and uPA have important roles in the dog's fibrinolytic system. For example, in an arterial thrombosis model in dogs, tPA injection significantly promoted thrombolysis and improved reperfusion.
