Target Information

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 1 is encoded by the FLT1 gene in sheep. VEGF's primary functions include promoting endothelial cell proliferation and migration, enhancing endothelial protease expression, stimulating microvascular leakage, and increasing the survival of newly formed endothelial cells. These actions are facilitated through two transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptors specific to endothelial cells: fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (Flt-1) and kinase insert domain-containing receptor/fetal liver kinase-1 (KDR/Flk-1).
