Target Information
Canine protein phosphatase 5 catalytic subunit (PP5C) is a serine/threonine protein phosphatase that plays a role in cellular stress responses, glucocorticoid signaling, and DNA damage repair. It is unique among the PPP family as it contains a regulatory N-terminal tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domain that suppresses its activity through an autoinhibited conformation. PP5's function is modulated by interactions with molecular chaperones, such as Hsp90, which release autoinhibition and stimulate its phosphatase activity. This enzyme is involved in the dephosphorylation of proteins, including the regulation of kinases and steroid hormone receptors, making it a potential target for therapeutic interventions in diseases such as cancer.
