Target Information
Porcine ADP-ribosylation factor 1 (ARF1) is a key member of the ARF family of small GTPases, which are essential for the regulation of intracellular membrane traffic, particularly in the early secretory pathway. ARF1 plays a pivotal role in the formation of COPI-coated vesicles, which are involved in the transport of proteins from the Golgi apparatus back to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). As a molecular target, ARF1 is significant due to its central function in the secretory pathway and its potential involvement in diseases associated with defects in protein trafficking. Its regulatory role in vesicle formation and transport makes it a potential therapeutic target for conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases, where impaired protein sorting and trafficking are implicated.
