Target Information

Nuclear factor 1 type C (NF-1C) is a transcription factor that contributes to the regulation of a variety of cellular processes by influencing gene expression. As a member of the NFI protein family, NF-1C binds to the GGGCGG sequence known as the NFI binding site, which is found in the promoter regions of numerous genes. This binding can either activate or repress transcription, depending on the context and the presence of other regulatory proteins. NF-1C is involved in the control of genes related to cell cycle progression, differentiation, and development. It is also implicated in the regulation of genes involved in immune responses and inflammation. The function of NF-1C is particularly important during embryonic development and tissue-specific gene expression.
