Target Information
Canine IgE, or immunoglobulin E, is a type of antibody that plays a critical role in the immune response, particularly in mediating allergic reactions. Similar to human IgE, canine IgE is involved in the activation of mast cells and basophils, leading to the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators. This process is central to the manifestation of allergic symptoms such as itching, swelling, and respiratory distress. In dogs, IgE is produced by B cells upon stimulation by allergens, and its production can be influenced by cytokines like IL-4.
