Target Information

Porcine ras related protein Ral-B, also known as RalB, is a small GTPase belonging to the Ras superfamily. It plays a pivotal role in various cellular processes, including actin cytoskeleton rearrangement, cell adhesion, and membrane trafficking. RalB is often dysregulated in cancer and has been implicated in tumorigenesis, making it a potential therapeutic target for oncology. As a molecular switch, RalB cycles between an active GTP-bound state and an inactive GDP-bound state. Its activation is regulated by guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs), which facilitate the exchange of GDP for GTP, and GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs), which stimulate the hydrolysis of GTP to GDP. Once activated, RalB interacts with multiple downstream effectors, modulating cellular signaling pathways that control cell growth, survival, and motility.
