Target Information
Porcine centrosomal protein with coiled-coil and ankyrin domain, often referred to as PCM1-like protein, is a centrosome-associated protein that plays a critical role in the organization and function of the centrosome, which is the main microtubule organizing center in animal cells. This protein, through its coiled-coil and ankyrin domains, contributes to the structural integrity and regulatory activities of the centrosome, essential for processes such as cell division and maintenance of genomic stability. As a molecular target, PCM1-like protein is significant for its potential role in cancer and other diseases characterized by centrosome amplification or dysfunction. Given its involvement in cell division, it could be a key factor in the uncontrolled cell proliferation seen in cancer.
