Target Information

Aquaporin-3 is encoded by the AQP3 gene in pigs. It resides in the basolateral cell membrane of principal collecting duct cells. It facilitates water transport out of these cells and exhibits permeability to glycerol, ammonia, urea, and hydrogen peroxide. AQP3 is expressed in diverse tissues, including the skin, respiratory tract, kidneys, and various cancer types. AQP3 is a crucial transporter for intestinal secretion and water absorption. It is closely linked to the intestinal barrier and diarrhea.
