Target Information
Growth Differentiation Factor 9 is an oocyte-derived growth factor belonging to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. It is highly expressed in the oocyte and plays a pivotal role in influencing the surrounding somatic cells, including granulosa, cumulus, and theca cells. GDF9 is encoded by the GDF9 gene in pigs. GDF9 is expressed in oocytes and is thought to be required for ovarian folliculogenesis.
