Target Information
Interleukin-8 (IL-8), a proinflammatory cytokine, plays a vital role in inflammatory responses by recruiting and regulating monocytes and lymphocytes in the early stages of inflammation. It is well-established that IL-8 is produced by various immune and non-immune cells, including fibroblasts and endothelial cells, in reaction to a broad spectrum of pathogenic stimuli. IL-8 has been shown to induce the expression of a variety of pro-inflammatory cytokines in fish, such as IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-6. For example, in grass carp, recombinant IL-8 was able to up-regulate the expression of these pro-inflammatory factors through the MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways.
