Target Information
Thrombomodulin, encoded by the THBD gene in rabbits, is a receptor on endothelial cells that plays a vital role in regulating physiological processes such as hemostasis, coagulation, fibrinolysis, inflammation, and angiogenesis. It functions as a cofactor for thrombin in activating protein C/PROC on the surface of vascular endothelial cells, initiating the activated protein C anticoagulant pathway. Additionally, it accelerates the activation of plasma carboxypeptidase B2/CPB2, which removes C-terminal basic amino acids from substrates like kinins or anaphylatoxins, thereby inhibiting fibrinolysis.
