Target Information
Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1-Beta is encoded by the HNF1B gene in pigs. HNF1B was first identified as a liver-specific transcription factor. It is a homeobox transcription factor that functions as a homodimer or heterodimer with HNF1α. HNF1β plays an important role in organogenesis during embryonic stage, especially in liver, kidney and pancreas. Variants in the HNF1β gene are associated with several relatively rare forms of Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY).
