Target Information
Prolidase acts as a dipeptidase, a type of enzyme that breaks down small molecules called dipeptides. It specifically targets dipeptides where the terminal amino acid (the one on the end) is either proline or hydroxyproline. By cleaving this bond, prolidase releases these individual amino acids (proline or hydroxyproline) for the body to reuse.
