Target Information

The primary structural elements of mammalian respiratory mucus are the gel-forming mucins, MUC5AC and MUC5B. These are heavily glycosylated polymeric proteins that share a similar domain organization. MUC5B is stored in the mucus cell granules of submucosal glands in a configuration that facilitates their secretion into mucin bundles.
