Target Information

Neuromedin U-25 (NMU) is an intriguing endogenous neuropeptide which is encoded by the NMU gene in pigs. Neuromedins are a family of peptides best known for their contractile activity on smooth muscle preparations. NMU plays a role in various biological processes, including: uterine contraction induction, metabolic regulation, pain perception, and smooth muscle contraction. Neuromedin U may have a wide range of as yet undetermined physiological effects.
