Target Information
CD59 glycoprotein, also known as MAC-inhibitory protein (MAC-IP), membrane inhibitor of reactive lysis (MIRL), or protectin, is a protein encoded by the CD59 gene. It belongs to the LU domain and is part of the LY6/uPAR/alpha-neurotoxin protein family. CD59 Molecule is encoded by the CD59 gene in pigs. CD59 is a glycoprotein linked to the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. It is expressed on a variety of cell types of both hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic origin. CD59 plays an important role in initiating the innate response to lipopolysaccharide from Gram-negative bacteria.
