Target Information

Transcobalamin-1 (TCN1), also known as haptocorrin, R-factor, or R-protein, is a glycoprotein produced by the salivary glands of the mouth. Its primary function is to protect cobalamin (Vitamin B12) from acid degradation in the stomach by forming a Haptocorrin-Vitamin B12 complex. Transcobalamin-1 is encoded by the TCN1 gene in pigs. It is a major constituent of the secondary granules of neutrophils.
