Target Information

Bovine ATP-Binding Cassette Sub-Family G Member 2 is encoded by the ABCG2 gene in cattle. The expression of SPP1 and ABCG2 in the bovine mammary gland increases from parturition through lactation. It is believed that a single nucleotide polymorphism, which can encode a substitution of tyrosine-581 to serine in ABCG2, is responsible for the major QTL affecting milk yield and composition.
