Target Information

Thyroglobulin (TG) is a dimeric glycoprotein produced by the follicular cells of the thyroid and used entirely within the thyroid gland. Thyroglobulin acts as a reservoir for storing inactive forms of T4 and T3 within the thyroid gland. These stored hormones can be readily activated and released into the bloodstream as needed by the body. It acts as a substrate for the production of iodinated thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine in pigs.
