Target Information

Urotensin-II (U-II) is a peptide ligand that holds the distinction of being the strongest known vasoconstrictor. Its multifaceted involvement in various biological systems, including the cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, and renal systems, makes it a promising target for the development of new drugs. Urotensin-2 is encoded by the UTS2 gene in pigs. It is a polypeptide ligand with neurohormone-like activity, and it mediates downstream signaling pathways through G-protein-coupled receptor 14.
