Target Information

Angiotensin I Converting Enzyme is a dipeptidyl carboxypeptidase that cleaves dipeptides from the C-terminus of various circulating hormones, including angiotensin I, bradykinin, and enkephalins. This enzyme is crucial for regulating blood pressure, maintaining electrolyte balance, and influencing synaptic plasticity. It consists of two similar catalytic domains, each with a functional active site and a distinct substrate selectivity. In rabbits, the ACE gene encodes this enzyme. In the rabbit lung, ACE is mainly distributed on the surface of alveolar epithelial cells and capillary endothelial cells.
