Target Information
Hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1-alpha) is a subunit of the heterodimeric transcription factor hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1). This transcription factor is crucial in regulating the cellular response to systemic oxygen levels in mammals. HIF1A interacts with a variety of proteins that may be involved in the degradation or functional regulation of HIF1A. This complex protein network suggests that HIF1A may also be involved in cell signaling and metabolic regulation through similar mechanisms in rabbits. In rabbit renal tubules, HIF1A regulates the expression of SDF1 (CXCL12), which affects the distribution of acidic interstitial cells (ICs) and bicarbonate interstitial cells (ACs).
