Target Information
In rabbits, the SREBP1 gene encodes Sterol Regulatory Element-Binding Protein 1, a crucial transcription factor that controls the expression of genes involved in cholesterol biosynthesis and lipid homeostasis. It regulates the promoters of genes associated with cholesterol biosynthesis and the LDL receptor (LDLR) pathway of sterol regulation. In rabbits, the function of SREBP1 may be associated with the biosynthesis of LC-PUFA (long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids). It was found that LXR (steroid receptor) and SREBP1 were jointly involved in the regulation of LC-PUFA biosynthesis in rabbits.
