Target Information
Bovine glutathione S-transferase Pi (GSTp) is a crucial enzyme belonging to the glutathione S-transferase superfamily, which is involved in the detoxification of endogenous and exogenous substances in cattle. This enzyme plays a significant role in protecting cells against oxidative stress and the effects of toxic molecules. GSTp is particularly important in the defense against carcinogens, electrophilic compounds, oxidants, and genomic damage caused by electrophilic mediators. It is also a key regulator of hepatocyte proliferation during liver regeneration and has been implicated in the development of resistance to chemotherapeutic agents, making it an attractive target for drug development.
