Target Information
Bovine interleukin 17 (IL17) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is instrumental in the immune responses of cattle, particularly in the recruitment and activation of neutrophils at sites of infection or inflammation. IL17, secreted by various immune cells including Th17 cells, stimulates the production of other cytokines, chemokines, and antimicrobial peptides, thereby enhancing the host's defense against extracellular bacteria and fungi. This protein plays a significant role in the promotion of inflammation and is associated with the pathology of various diseases, including autoimmune conditions and cancer. IL17's expression and activity are tightly regulated, as its dysregulation can lead to chronic inflammatory diseases. Its role in immune modulation and inflammation makes IL17 a significant factor in both physiological and pathological conditions in cattle.
