Target Information
Bovine growth/differentiation factor 8 (GDF8), also known as myostatin, is a member of the TGF-β superfamily that plays a crucial role in the regulation of muscle growth and development in cattle. It acts as a negative regulator of muscle mass and is involved in the modulation of adipogenesis. GDF8 is expressed in reproductive tissues and has been implicated in the regulation of follicular development and oogenesis. Recent studies have shown that GDF8 can improve oocyte quality during maturation by regulating SMAD2/3 signaling, which is essential for proper embryonic development in Bovines.
