Target Information
Stromal Cell-Derived Factor-1 (SDF-1) belongs to the intercrine family of chemokines. There are five isoforms of SDF1, distinguished solely by their C terminal tail. These isoforms bind to CXCR4 and CXCR7 receptors located on the cell surface, and can also attach to syndecan4. SDF1 plays a role in lymphopoiesis, controlling neural progenitor cell patterns and quantities, and facilitating angiogenesis. Additionally, it improves the survival of myeloid progenitor cells. A previous study demonstrated that the intra-renal administration of CXCL12 might offer an effective treatment for kidney fibrosis in cats suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD).
